The Berkley Holiday parade committee did it again! The 4th Annual Hometown Holiday Lights Parade was a huge success and the day's events were enjoyed by many. It certainly was a festive day with all the snow! Residents and visitors to Berkley enjoyed carriage rides, a petting zoo, and of course a parade full of bands, floats, community groups, and...Santa Clause.
Over 100 people enjoyed free trolley rides complete with a free raffle and caroling through downtown Berkley prior to the parade. Thank you to our Trolley Sponsors: Catching Fireflies, ...Have you any Wool?, and National City. Thanks also goes out to the businesses that provided gift certificates for our trolley raffle: Bagger Dave's, Edible Arrangements, Evolutions, Hungry Howies, Kopy Katz, Odd Fellow Antiques, Salon Miracles, and The Lunch Cafe.
Riders were entertained by our delightful Brownies, Rogers 2nd Grade Troop #2426. They were so cute with their matching Santa hats and their delightful carols. We were also pleased to have the Rogers Rockettes join us again this year. For those that don't know, The Rogers Rockettes are a group of teachers from Rogers Elementary that have formed a singing group. They are fabulous! They entertained the crowd on the trolley and at the gazebo while waiting for Santa Claus.
The Berkley Chamber of Commerce will be at the Expo- representing YOU! Representatives will be on hand to answer any questions regarding the community businesses and also to promote our Chamber members. We will be handing out bags to attendees filled with any goodies you may have - coupons, pens, mugs, fliers, magnets, etc. Just let us know if you have anything you'd like to contribute and we will pick them up and take care of the rest. Last year we handed out approximately 300 bags. Questions? Contact us at 248.414.9157 or at email@example.com
Thank you to all those that participated in the Berkley Holiday Lights Parade. Whether you were a trolley sponsor, a parade sponsor, donated a trinket to the goody bag, offered a special in your store, rode the trolley, watched the parade, attended the tree lighting, visited Santa, went to dinner at Farina's...we appreciate your support. Thanks to the hard work of the parade committee another successful parade went off without a hitch. As you know the Chamber of Commerce sponsored a shopping trolley that approximately 150 people rode throughout the 3 hour time frame. It was great to see so many people take advantage of the FREE rides. Residents and visitors enjoyed caroling by the 1st and 4th grade girl scout troops from Rogers Elementary as well as The Rogers Rockettes. We gave away goody bags that contained store coupons, pencils, pens, letter openers, candy canes, etc. and a flyer that told about the events taking place in downtown Berkley. What a great day for our community!
Take a look at the photo album to view pictures from the event.

The Holiday Parade Commitee has made arrangements to attract crowds downtown before the actual parade. Beginning at approximately 2 pm the festivities begin:
A horse-drawn carriage ride will travel through the business district in the afternoon and through a specially selected and decorated neighborhood after dusk!
A children's petting zoo next to Clark's Ice Cream
A vintage trolley, sponsored by the Berkley Chamber of Commerce, Amici’s Pizza, and National City Bank will provide transportation along 12 Mile and along Coolidge, making it easy to park and ride around town as you shop and dine.
At 5:30 pm the 2nd annual Berkley Hometown Holiday Lights Parade, featuring local bands, floats and, of course, our favorite Jolly Old Elf, will start at 12 Mile and Bacon, and travel down 12 Mile to City hall.
Follow Santa’s sleigh to City Hall and enjoy the annual tree lighting sponsored, as always, by the Berkley Junior Women’s Club.
There will be hot chocolate and treats, carols, and a chance for the kids to share their Christmas list with Santa.
